Throughout eleventh grade, we continue to monitor the progress of our juniors and encourage them to maintain the most rigorous course of study that they can handle. Juniors are invited to attend presentations by college admission representatives from approximately ninety colleges across the nation, our district’s college night in October, Mock Admissions presentation (re: private college information) in November, and presentations from our local community colleges. Our ROP coordinator is available in the college and career center, offering practical career training programs for students age 16 and above. All juniors are encouraged to sign up for the PSAT in October and additional practice SAT/ACT exams during fall and spring semester.
During the spring, we meet with all juniors in small groups to review graduation and college requirements, college admissions, testing dates, and course selection for senior year. During the month of March, we offer a junior Parent Coffee where we discuss graduation, college requirements, ROP opportunities & post high school options. Throughout the spring we meet with individual at-risk juniors to discuss summer school and to support their graduation plans.
